iZen begins filming Day One, a tech thriller for Prime Video starring Álex González

The series, set in a near future shaped by digital transformation, is being shot in iconic locations across Barcelona and the Canary Islands and will premiere in 2026.

Filming is now underway for Day One, the latest original series from Prime Video, produced by Zebra Producciones (iZen Group), NewCo Audiovisual, and Documentales en Canarias S.L.. Blending suspense with a futuristic edge, the show explores one of the most pressing questions of our time: How do we preserve our humanity in an increasingly technological world?

Set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in 2026, the series features a stellar cast including Álex González, Alba Planas, Asier Etxeandía, and Jordi Mollà, alongside Renata Notni, Iván Massagué, and a special guest appearance by Mireia Oriol.

At the centre of Day One is Ulises Albet (González), a brilliant computer scientist who abandoned the tech world after the suicide of his sister, a victim of online abuse. A decade later, he returns to Barcelona after receiving a cryptic call from his former business partner and best friend, Samuel Barrera (Etxeandía), during the bustling Mobile World Congress. Samuel claims the world is in danger, but his warning is vague — and urgent. Ulises must confront his past and an unsettling future where technological advances may come at the cost of our humanity.

The series is directed by Marta Pahissa (Citas Barcelona) and Víctor Cuadrado (Sagrada Familia), with scripts by Cristina Pons (Simple), Luis Arranz (Memento Mori), Luis Moreno (El Cid), and Juan Salvador López (Money Heist). Executive producers include César Martí, Cristina Pons, Sara Fernández-Velasco, and José Velasco. Real locations, real innovation.

Day One is being filmed at some of Barcelona’s most important innovation hubs, including the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the ALBA Synchrotron, Talent Arena, the Collserola Tower, Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), and the 22@ Innovation District — sites that represent the city’s unique blend of heritage and cutting-edge technology.

The series also features the support of the Barcelona Mobile World Capital Foundation, reinforcing its connection to the key conversations around technology and society.
