THE KRAKEN: THE BLACK BOOK OF HOURS SERIES PREMIERES ON JUNE 27 ON PRIME VIDEO

Kraken: El libro negro de las horas will premiere on Prime Video on June 27. Following its recent theatrical release, the universe created by Eva García Sáenz de Urturi is now expanding into series format with six 45-minute episodes, in a suspenseful, action-packed story based on one of the biggest Spanish-language literary phenomena of recent years.

Prime Video today unveiled the first images from the series, which already hint at the tone of this thriller, marked by family secrets, crimes linked to the world of bibliophilia and the search for a legendary medieval book.
Unai, known as Kraken, receives a mysterious call from a man who calls himself Caliban. On the other end of the line, the man assures him that his mother — whom Kraken believed had died forty years ago — will die unless he manages to find a highly coveted medieval book whose existence has never been proven.

At the same time, two people connected to the collecting of antique books are found dead under strange circumstances. Everything leads Kraken to believe that the threat is real, and that he may have spent almost four decades believing he was an orphan when, in fact, he was not. From that moment on, he becomes immersed in an investigation that will lead him into the world of bibliophilia, the forgery of incunabula and a dark web of secrets, betrayals and greed.
Starring Alejo Sauras (Hotel Bitcoin, Estoy Vivo) as Kraken and Maggie Civantos (Vis a Vis, Cable Girls) as Estíbaliz, the series also features Natalia Rodríguez (La Sala, High Seas), Natalia Millán (Cuéntame, Velvet), Fernando Soto (Memento Mori, Money Heist), Martín Urrutia (Mariliendre) and Aitziber Luma, among others.

The series Kraken: El libro negro de las horas is directed by Manuel Sanabria (Hotel Bitcoin, La coleccionista) and Joaquín Llamas (Los artistas, primeros trazos, Sequía), with a screenplay by Juan Carlos Cueto and Rocío Martínez Llano. Produced by Isla Audiovisual in collaboration with Zebra Producciones (Grupo iZen), the series is executive produced by Bárbara Vayá, Víctor García, Manuel Sanabria and Juliana Barrera, with Carlos Pérez Gascó as director of photography.
